Alan Harris-Guerreo

Managing Director

The Managing Director of Sail Shape Marine, Alan Harris-Guerreo has always been on or near the water. He started sailing at 4 years of age and now competes professionally, winning numerous one design and yacht trophies. He has also sailed several times across the Atlantic giving Alan the ability to understand and communicate with nearly all types of water users.

Starting his trade as a sailmaker and rigger in the early 2000's, Alan has travelled the globe sailing, sailmaking and rigging, gaining knowledge about the marine industry and how to run a successful businesses.

Small ribs and powerboats have also been a large part of his experience serving as a Senior sailing instructor in Cornwall coupled with being an ex RNLI lifeboat crew volunteer added great breadth to boat handling and understanding hull forms. After taking on a small Sailmaking company in 2010 Mitchell Sails, the business quickly grew and expanded to Lostwithiel bringing in Alan' wife Emelie into the business and they took over a 5000sq.ft unit installing CNC cutting machines, design office and heavy duty sewing machines giving the capability to make nearly any size sail required for the UK. In 2021 Alan started Sail Shape Marine, a marine engineering and electrical business employing Jimmy our marine engineer and manager who is equally experienced at sea. Sail Shape marine is now the main Cornwall Honda, Highfield dealer supplying ribs throughout the county. The two companies employ 15 people across 2 sites. At 36 years of age, Alan has only just got started!

Emelie Harris-Guerreo

Finance Director

Emelie was brought up in a small seaside town on the west coast in Sweden. Her real interest in boats started when she as a teenager spent 9 months sailing around the Atlantic and the Mediterranean on a tall-ship as part of her education. In 2010 she met Alan whilst taking part in a transatlantic race, The ARC, and decided to move to England.

Rob Staines

Robert grew up on the shores of the river Tamar to a sailing family. Whether it was sail, engine, swim or paddle he always dreamed of a water life. Dinghy and offshore racing were everything through his formative years. Robert studied marine engineering at Falmouth Marine School before travelling worldwide; contracting in marine, mining and construction along with pursuing a love of inshore and offshore racing.

After starting a family in 2018 he decided to settle again in Cornwall, he is active on dinghy and big boat racing throughout the UK. After a long friendship with Alan, Emelie and the team, a love of sailing and the way Sail Shape group does business, Rob was excited to take a position with them in the spring of 2023.

Sail Shape started as a sail-making company in 2011. After substantial growth in rigging, the company moved to a larger production facility in Lostwithiel in order to manufacture everything in house. Boat sales and engineering had always been an area of interest so, when Honda technician Jimmy Hoddinott offered to run the new company Sail Shape Marine, there was no turning back. The group now offers boat sales, marine engineering and electronics, and Sail Shape Marine is the main Honda-Highfield dealer in Cornwall.

Located in mid-Cornwall on the A390, Sail Shape Marine is well-placed to service the whole county, offering a turn-key launch and recovery service which takes all the hassle out of boat ownership. Simply order your boat from the showroom, store it at Sail Shape Marine's secure facility and call 72 hours prior to launch, giving any location in Cornwall with a slipway. We will collect within 24 hours once you've finished your trip, wash down, clean, service and store your craft until you need it next. It’s as simple as that.
